*4-year-old boy present with orbital pain and proptosis.

What is the most likely diagnosis?

Subperiosteal orbital abscess

Case Discussion:

CT images showed elliptical left subperisoteal collection adjacent to the ethmoid sinuses with displacement of the medial rectus muscle, extensive opacification of all of the left paranasal sinuses with obilteration of the left osteomeatal complex. There is no bony destruction at the collection site and intracranial extension.

Subperiosteal abscess of the orbit occurs as a complication of acute sinusitis.

Patients can present with pain, visual disturbance, proptosis and/or chemosis.

Complications include orbital cellulitis, arterial and, venous thrombosis
